Annual Small Business Workshop Addresses Business Sustainability

May is small business month and small businesses are a major economic generator in Detroit and beyond.  However, aspiring and current entrepreneurs grapple with how to build and grow their business.  With this in mind, The LEE Group, in conjunction with Fifth Third Bank and the Michigan Women’s Foundation, will hold its annual Small Business Workshop on Wednesday, May 3, 2017, 7:30am-1pm, at TechTown, located at 440 Burroughs, in Midtown Detroit.

This year’s theme is focused on Business Sustainability.  The workshop’s mission is to provide practical advice and counsel to aspiring and existing small businesses experiencing start-up and grown challenges.  Onsite resources will be available to assist attendees in overcoming day-to-day business challenges.

Please join us this year as we will have keynote speakers, business experts, panelists share expertise, tips and resources.  Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend breakout sessions focused on longer-term sustainability and growth–specifically:

  • Knowing your customers and potential customers,
  • Leadership and skills required to get to the next level,
  • Managing your numbers and understanding your business model, and
  • Effectively amplifying your messages in a cost-efficient manner

Regarding fellow entrepreneurs who will be speakers and workshop leaders, Mark S. Lee, President and CEO, The LEE Group, states, “These are entrepreneurs who have crashed through that barrier. They’re going to share their examples and their experiences, our hope is that (participants) will walk away with tools that are beneficial and can be implemented immediately.”

Carolyn Cassin, President and CEO, the Michigan Women’s Foundation, is excited for the collaboration with this year’s workshop. “The theme this year of sustainability is so exciting because it tackles the hard work of maintaining a business. It takes a variety of skills to keep a business growing, and we want to help people with that hard work,” Cassin states.

Other sponsors include the Detroit Development Fund, PNC Bank, UHY LLP, Comcast Business, State Farm Agent, Cindy Fletcher, Truscott Rossman and Tanner Friedman.

A complimentary continental breakfast will be available. For more information and to register, please visit www.leegroupinnovation.com/.
